Áakʼw Rock Past Events
Áak’w Rock organizers held an in-person fundraiser for the 2023 festival called Áak’w Rock Side Stage. The fundraiser was a four-night event held in Juneau, AK from June 8-11, 2022 with sold-out shows featuring eight Indigenous acts. We had amazing donors: First People’s Fund, Sealaska Corporation, Goldbelt Heritage Foundation, Huna Totem Corporation, Amalga Distillery, Crystal Saloon, and Sealaska Heritage Institute.

2022 Side Stage
2021 Virtual Festival
The first Áak’w Rock was held in October 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival organizers, JAHC and its partner Tlingit & Haida, had to pivot from their planning in 2020 for an in-person event to a virtual event. The two-day virtual festival featuring over 20 artists was an unprecedented success for Indigenous music with widespread support, including viewers internationally. The festival used a pay-what-you-can model that allowed attendees to join despite the negative impact the pandemic had on people.
